We get some items made from iron wire in which iron wire is coated with plastic. Is plastic coated by the process of electroplating? Why can't plastic be coated on a metal by the process of electroplating?

Solution

No, plastic cannot be coated on a metal by the method of electroplating.
The reason is plastic does not dissociate into ions and does not allow passage of current as it is not a conductor. So, it does not act as an electrolyte or an electrode.
So plastic cannot be coated on a metal by the process of electroplating.
