We know that a haploid parent reproduces by mitosis. Does it mean that meiosis can never occur in it? (I hope this is a very foolish question but I'm confused!!)

Solution
No ,you are free to ask.
Meiosis mainly occurs in diploid organisms but some haploid organisms have a fertilization event that produces dipoloid cells which then undergo meiosis to give you haploid cells again. So, if the haploid organism undergoes some form of sexual reproduction, then YES, it carries out meiosis.
