The correct option is D Both statements are wrong
For a non-uniform cross-section the value of AVd remains constant (where A is the cross sectional area and Vd is the drift speed. So when the area increases, the Vd decreases simultaneously. The current flowing remains constant.
It has to be, otherwise say current increases at P, it would be against the law of conservation of charge (where would extra current come from?)
