Question

we know that elecrons are involrd in the carrying of electric current . but nonmetals have more electrons . then why are non metals poor conductors of electricity

Solution

Dear student

Non metals are covalently bonded to each other. In covalent compounds the electrons exist in shared pairs. They are not delocalised and hence not mobile.
We know that free electrons are responsible for conducting electricity in metallic structure. As there are no free electrons, there is no conduction.
