Question

We know that vector quantities can only be added with the help of vector algebra. Also, area is a vector quantity (area vector), whose direction is perpendicular to the surface. But we can add surface areas of different shapes by simply adding them. Thus, to add areas, we do not need laws of vector addition. Then why is area considered to be a vector quantity?
