Question

We learnt that touching is the repulsive force between atoms and that two things are never really in contact. If so then does this repulsive force vary for different things? Are there things with a repulsive force strong enough for us to see that we can't touch it?

Solution

First of all, touching is not a repulsive force, it only creates repulsive forces between them.
As all the things are made up of basic building block called atom, all the objects have equal repulsive forces.
But due to external condition, this force can vary.
For example, touching a magnet with an iron is easy but making contact with 2 same poles of 2 magnets are difficult.

Hope this helps!
