We should promote public transport because of the following reasons:

• It is cheaper than your private transportation (cars/bikes)
• People of all age groups can travel (even those who don't have a driving license)
• People preferring public transportation decreases the number of pvt. vehicles on road reducing traffic and ensuring its free flow.
• Lesser chance of breaking traffic laws.
• Lesser road accidents (as road accident is one of the major causes of deaths in many countries)
• People follow a disciplined schedule to board a public transportation mode (not much delay in going to the destination)
• Depending on public transportation reduces pollution.
• You get to meet people from different backgrounds (cultures, races etc).
