$ZnO$ in white paint by atmospheric $H_{2}S$ gives $ZnS$ (white) but $P{b}^{2+}$ salts in white paint turns black by atmospheric $H_{2}S$ due to formation $PbS$. This is why we use ZnO instead of ${Pb}^{2+}$ salts.
$ZnO+H_{2}S\to ZnS\left(white\right)+H_{2}O$
whereas, $P{b}^{2+}+H_{2}S\to PbS\left(black\right)+2H^{+}$
