Solution

Dear Student,

After the defeat of Imperial Germany in World War-1 a National Assembly met at Weimar and established a democratic constitution with a federal structure. This republic came to known as Weimar Republic but it was not received well by its own people because of the terms it was forced to accept after Germany’ defeat. Some are mentioned below;
-The peace treaty at Versailles with the Allies was a harsh and humiliating peace in which Germany lost its population territory and resources.
-Social Impact- many Germans held the new Weimar Republic responsible for defeat in the war as well as the disgrace they have to felt at Versailles.
-Economic Impact of Weimar Republic is that it had to carried the burden of war guilt and national humiliation and was financially exhausted by being forced to pay compensation of the war.
-The Weimar constitution had some political Impact as well which made it unstable and vulnerable to dictatorship like proportional representation making achievment of majority by any one party impossible and leading to a rule by coalitions.
- Another political defect was Article 48, which gave the powers to impose emergency to the President and suspend civil rights and rule by decree. Its result was that in its short life, the Weimar Republic saw twenty different cabinets lasting on an average 239 days, and a liberal use of Article 48 leading to unstablity and unacceptance by its people.
