Solution:
The different dynasties that ruled over South India between the period of 800 to 1200 CE, contributed immensely to the architectural and cultural heritage of South India. Rulers of the Chola, Rashtakutas, Pallavas, and Pandyas all built great temples and architectural wonders such as the Ellora caves.

The Chola king Rajaja for e.g built the Bruhadeshwara temple, his successor Rajendra Chola built the grand capital city of Gangaikonda Cholapuram and the Shiva temple.

Later, under the Rashtakutas ruled the Kailash temple was built at the Ellora caves. All the temples were built in Dravidian style of architecture.
The Shri Rajeshwar temple was built by Rajaraja in honour of Lord Shiva.

In all these temples the main entrance of the temple was called the Gopuram. The Kailash temple is another architectural marvel that has been built out of one single rock. It is one of the most amazing wonders of the world in terms of architectural design and expertise.
