Question

What affects the period of oscillation

Open in App
Solution

The period of oscillation

T=2πLg[whereL=length,g=accelerationduetogravity]

Factors affecting the period of oscillation

  1. The period of oscillation is, most primarily, directly proportional to the length of the arm.
  2. When there is an increase in the length of the arm of the pendulum, there is a subsequent increase in the period. When there is a decrease in the length of the arm, the period also decreases.
  3. It is also inversely proportional to gravity. If the gravitational acceleration is stronger, the smaller the period.
