Question

What amount of Zn will be required to produce H2 by its action on dilute H2SO4 which will completely react with the oxygen, produced by heating 30g of KClO3?

Open in App
Solution

KCl3 KCl + 32 O2
Amount 30 g
122.5 g of KClO3will gives = 48 g of oxygen
30 g of KClO3will give = 48122.5×30 = 11.755 g
H2 +1/2 O2 H2O
16g of oxygen reacts with = 2g of H2
11.755g of oxygen will react with = 216×11.755 =1.469 g of H2
Zn + H2SO4 ZnSO4 +H2
2g of H2 is yielded from = 63.5g of Zn
1.469g of H2 will be yield from= 65.32 ×1.469 = 47.976g of Zn.
