  1. Photosynthesis is the process of producing food with the help of sunlight.
  2. This process generally is carried out in plants.
  3. Animals do not undergo photosynthesis.
  4. Some animals do not produce chloroplasts naturally as plants do but undergo photosynthesis.
  5. However, there are animals that can steal chloroplasts and benefit from photosynthesis.
  6. One such animal is the eastern emerald elysia or emerald green sea slug (Elysia chlorotica).
  7. It preys on Vaucheria litorea, steals its plastids and continue to photosynthesize and grow in animal cells.
