  • 2D is an abbreviation for 2-Dimensional. 2D figures are plane figures on a surface. A 2D shape has graphically two aspects: x-axis and y-axis. Examples: Triangle, circle, planar patch, etc
  • 3D is an abbreviation for 3-Dimensional. 3D figures are any solid objects. A 3D shape has graphically two aspects: x-axis and y-axis: x-axis, y-axis, andz-axis. Example stone, ball, etc

Note: Dimensions refer to the aspect on which the figure or object is defined.
