Heart disease is a disease that mainly affects the heart or blood vessels.
Smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, and obesity can increase the risk of certain heart diseases.
The most common heart disease is coronary artery disease which can lead to chest pain, heart attack, or stroke.
types of heart disease:
Heart arrhythmia:
When you have an arrhythmia, your heart beats irregularly.
Severe arrhythmias often develop from other heart problems but can also occur on their own.
Heart failure:
With heart failure, your heart does not pump blood the way it should to meet your body's needs.
It is usually caused by coronary artery disease, but it can also happen because you have thyroid disease, high blood pressure, heart muscle disease (cardiomyopathy), or some other condition.
Heart valve disease:
Your heart has four valves that open and close the direct blood flow between the four chambers of your heart, the lungs, and the blood vessels.
Abnormalities can cause difficulty in opening and closing the valve properly.
Pericardial disease:
Any disease of the pericardium, the sac around your heart is called pericardial disease.
Pericarditis or inflammation of the pericardium is one of the more common diseases.
