Control of hormone secretion:

  1. The main mechanism for regulating hormone levels is negative feedback, in which a hormone's production is inhibited as its level rises.
  2. Humoral, hormonal, and neuronal stimulation are the three mechanisms of hormone release.
  3. In reaction to stimuli, the hormones' internal environment changes. The hormones are in charge of controlling the body's core temperature. A feedback mechanism often makes a procedure faster or inherits it. This loop typically produces negative feedback for most hormones.

Negative feedback mechanism:

  1. When the original effect of the stimulus is lessened by the output, a negative feedback mechanism occurs.
  2. When things start to get too severe, negative feedback mechanisms help things get back to normal. An example of a negative feedback system is the thyroid gland, which is controlled by one.
  3. The pituitary gland is stimulated to release thyroid-stimulating hormone by the hormone the hypothalamus secretes.
  4. The thyroid gland then releases its hormones in response to the thyroid-stimulating hormone.
  5. By using a feedback mechanism, when the thyroid levels rise, the hormones stop the hypothalamus and pituitary glands from secreting TRH and TSH, respectively.
  6. Without TSH stimulation, the thyroid gland's ability to secrete hormones is reduced. Thyroid hormone levels drop dramatically.
  7. The negative feedback system also regulates the pancreas' production of insulin.

Positive feedback mechanism:

  1. It occurs when the output strengthens the stimulus's initial effect.
  2. Extreme circumstances result from this system.
  3. One example of a positive feedback system is the secretion of milk by a mother's mammary glands.
  4. The nerve tells the pituitary gland to release prolactin while sucking from the nipple.
  5. Prolactin then causes the mammary glands to release milk. More prolactin is released and more milk is produced when the baby suckles more milk.
