Solution

  • Abiotic factors are the non-living factors of the ecosystem which plays a major role in the survival and development of an organism and also in the proper functioning of an ecosystem.
  • They include air, water, soil, temperature and light etc
1) Temperature: Temperature of the environment affects the metabolic processes and their rate.
  • Every organism has a specific range of temperature in which it can survive.
2) Water: Water is an essential requirement for the survival of an organism, but its requirement varies from organism to organism.
  • An area with higher water content is reported to have a higher species richness.
3) Wind: The velocity of wind in an area governs its temperature and humidity.
  • The wind speed can also affect the size of the vegetation growing in the area.
4) Light: The amount of sunlight an area receives greatly influences the growth of plants in that area.
  • It affects the moisture content of the soil as well as the humidity and temperature of the environment.
