Hydrogen sulfide is a colourless gas having a rotten egg-like odour at low concentrations.
It is highly flammable and is very toxic.
It is produced in the gas and oil industries.
Acceptable levels of Hydrogen sulfide
Acceptable levels of hydrogen sulfide gas in the environment must feature concentrations of H2S below 20 parts per million (20 ppm). However, the levels may still be acceptable in the range of 20 ppm to 50 ppm for up to a time period of 10 minutes.
