What are acids? Mention the types of acids on the basis of their sources.

An acid is any substance that in water solution tastes sour, changes blue litmus paper to red.

Acids can be classified on the basis of their source in this way:
(i) Mineral acids (Inorganic acids):- The acids which are usually obtained from rocks or minerals are known as inorganic acids.

(ii) Organic acids:- The acids which are usually obtained from plants and animals are known as organic acids.
