Algae blooms :-

  1. Algae blooms is defined as the rapid increase in the population of algae in the freshwater or marine water habitat.
  2. Algae bloom often recognized by the discoloration in the water from the algae's pigments.
  3. Excess nitrogen and phosphorus cause an overgrowth of algae which leads to algae bloom.

Dead Zones :-

  1. Dead zones refers to the areas of water bodies where aquatic animals die due to presence of low oxygen levels.
  2. The overgrowth of algae consumes oxygen and blocks sunlight from reaching underground plants due to which they eventually dies.
  3. It is impossible for aquatic life to survive in water due to lack of oxygen.
