Question

What are angles in same segment? How can we identity them?

Open in App
Solution

Angles in the same segment are equal. Angles subtended (made) by the same arc at the circumference are equal.

(1): Draw a circle.

(2): Mark any 2 points A & B on the circle

(3) Join those 2 points

(4) You get a chord AB

(5): This AB chord divides the circle into 2 segments. Smaller one is minor segment. Larger one is major segment . If equal both will be semi circular segment.

(6): Now mark a point P , any where on the arc of any one segment, except on A or B.

(7): Join A & P. And join B& P.

(8) Similarly, mark point Q now, & join A & Q. And join B& Q.

(9) Similarly, you may mark any number of points, P,Q,R,S,T,……. on the arc of the segment.

(10) Angles, so formed like,<APB, < AQB, < ARB, <ASB, < ATB,…….. & so on.. are referred as angles in the same segment.

And all these angles in the same segment will be equal in measure.
