Open in App
Solution

Archegonia plants:

  1. Plants with an Archegonium are known as archegoniate plants.
  2. The female sex organ is the archegonium.
  3. They are multicellular flask-shaped cells with neck canal cells that each generate one egg (oosphere).
  4. The base, also known as a venter, is frequently bulging.
  5. When the cells in the neck canal mature, they degenerate.
  6. Four cover cells cover the top of the archegonium, but they vanish as the neck cells gelatinize.
  7. Plants that are archegoniate are classified as bryophytes, pteridophytes, or gymnosperms.
  8. The archegonium of gymnosperms is the least developed, but the archegonium of bryophytes is substantially developed.
