The basic features of inheritance are:1. Characters are controlled by genes.
2. Each gene controls one character.
3. There may be two or more forms of a gene.
4. One form may be dominant over the other.
5. Genes are present on chromosomes.
6. An individual has two forms of gene whether similar or dissimilar.
7. The two forms separate at the time of gamete information.
8. The two forms are brought together in the zygote.
