Solution
The term bio-hard and bio-soft detergents are given to indicate the biodegradability of the detergents. Hard detergents are highly resistant to primary biodegradation and their surfactants properties are not reduced upon biological treatment. Sodium -4- (1, 3, 5, 7- Tetra Methyl Octyl) Benzene Sulphonate is a hard detergent.
Soft detergents, on the other hand, can be broken down to smaller elements upon microbial action. Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonic Acid detergents are soft detergents.
