Bond pairs are the pairs of valence electrons that take part in bond formation. A bond is always composed of 2 electrons.
Example- Water molecule is composed of 2 bond pairs constituting 2 covalent bonds.
Another example is of beryllium chloride that contains 2 bond pairs constituting 2 covalent bonds.
