Brain waves:
- Brain waves are the rhythmic variations in potential between different parts of the brain that can be seen on an EEG (electroencephalogram – a test that detects electrical activity within the brain using metal discs).
- The electroencephalogram is used to locate electrodes within the scalp in order to detect live brain waves.
- Brain waves are essential evidence of your brain's electrical activity.
- A wave-like pattern is created when a group of neurons sends a burst of electrical pulses to another group of neurons.
- These waves are now measured in cycles per second, which we refer to as the Hertz (Hz).
The different types of brainwaves are –
- Alpha
- Beta
- Theta
- Delta
