What are canal rays?

Open in App
Solution

Canal rays:

  1. Canal rays are also known as anode rays.
  2. This is because they are emitted from anode and travel to the cathode.
  3. As anode is a positive electrode, the canal rays emerging from it consist of a stream of fast moving positively charged particles known as protons.
  4. Thus, canal rays are a beam of protons travelling from anode to cathode.
  5. Canal rays can ionize gases.
