  1. The sub-cellular structures present inside a cell within the cytoplasm are known as cell organelles.
  2. Each of them have different shapes and structure.
  3. All of them perform specific functions.
  4. Example: Mitochondria is a cell organelle which has rod-shaped structure and its function is to generate ATP, whereas ribosomes are cell organelles which have two sub-units closely associated with each other and are the sites of protein synthesis.
