Step 1. Common factor

Factor- The factor of any number or expression is another number or expression which divides the given number or expression such that they leave the remainder of zero.

For example: 1,2,3,6and18 are factors of 18

The common factor- For any two numbers or expressions, the common factors are a factor that divides both of them exactly, leaving the remainder zero.

Step 2. How to find a common factor

First, Write the factors of both the given no. and then factors which are common in them are to be listed separately.

Those are the required common factor.

Example:

Finding the common factors of 3 and 5.

3=3×15=5×1

Taking the common value from the above value that is equal to “1” .
