Connective tissues are those tissues :

  1. That supports protects, and gives structure to other tissues and organs in the body.
  2. Connective tissue also stores fat and helps move nutrients and other substances between tissues and organs.
  3. They also damage the repair tissues.

Connective tissues are classified into the following groups:

1. Areolar connective tissue:

This type of tissue holds organs in place and attaches epithelial tissue, to other underlying tissues

2. Fibrous connective tissue:

  1. This type of tissue is composed of parallel bundles of collagen fibers.
  2. It is found in the dermis,

3. Adipose connective tissue:

  1. This type of tissue is a specialized connective tissue consisting of lipid-rich cells.
  2. Its main function is to store energy in the form of lipids.
