Solution
Cortical Nephrons
The fundamental structural and operational unit of the kidney is the nephron.
A renal corpuscle and a renal tubule make up their microscopic structure.
Each human kidney contains millions of nephrons.
The cortical nephron is a tiny structural and functional component of the kidney that only enters the outer renal medulla by a brief Henle loop.
The Malpighian corpuscles of these nephrons are located at the periphery of the renal cortex.
All vertebrates have cortical nephrons.
