What are cotyledons?Please answer in brief.

Cotyledons are the embryonic part of the seeds of flowering plant which upon germination forms the first green leaf. If a plant contains two cotyledons in the seed then the plant is said to be a dicot plant and if a plant contains only one cotyledons in the seed then it is said to be a monocot plant.
