Question

What are decomposers? Name any two of them. What do they do in the forest?

Open in App
Solution

- Decomposers are organisms that feed on the remains of dead and decaying matter and derive nutrients from them.
- They convert the dead matter into a dark coloured substance called humus. Humus releases nutrients back to the soil. So, decomposers recycle the nutrients in a forest.
- Two examples of decomposers are fungi and bacteria.
