Question

What are decomposers? What do they do in the forest?

Open in App
Solution

Decomposers are organisms that feed on the remains of dead and decaying matter and derive nutrients from them.

They convert the dead matter into a dark coloured substance called humus. Humus releases nutrients back to the soil. So, decomposers recycle the nutrients in a forest.
