What are dental caries and how they can be prevented?

Open in App
Solution

Dental caries also known as tooth decay or a cavity, is an infection, bacterial in origin that causes the demineralisation and destruction of the hard tissues of the teeth. This is due to the production of acid by bacterial fermentation of food debris accumulated on the tooth surface. By brushing the teeth regularly, the formation of these acids can be prevented.
