What are the differences between colloid and suspension on the basis of characteristics?
The difference between colloid and suspension is as follows:-
Colloid | Suspension |
1. The particles of colloid can not be seen by the naked eye due to their smaller size. | 1. The particles of suspension can be seen without the help of a microscope. |
2. They settle down under high centrifugation. As a result, the colloid is quite stable. | 2. The solute particle settles down when a suspension is left undisturbed. So, the suspension is unstable. |
3. Colloids can not be separated from the mixture by the process of filtration. | 3. Suspension can be separated out from the mixture by the process of filtration. |
