  1. The classification of the ABO blood group is based on the presence or absence of the Antigen types A and B which are carried on the surface of red blood cells.
  2. Thus, a person may have type A, type B, type AB, or type O blood group.
  3. Both antigens and antibodies are protein molecules in which antigens are present on the surface of Red Blood Cells and antibodies are present in the plasma which is involved in defending mechanisms.
