Solution

Disorders of the respiratory system:

  1. Respiratory disorders are the disorders of the lungs or air pathways or parts of the respiratory systems.
  2. Asthma is the disorder of lung air pathways where the airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus, which can lead to difficulty in breathing, shortness in breathing, coughing making a wheezing sound while breathing.
  3. COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is an irreversible lung disease that causes chronic inflammation in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe and obstructs the airflow causing a blockage.
  4. Emphysema is a condition that damages the alveolar sacs of the lungs, causing the inner walls of the air sacs to weaken and rupture over time, hence creating larger air spaces instead of many small ones, which leads to shortness of breathing.
  5. Lung Cancer mostly occurs due to smoking, where the toxins create oncogenic transformations in the cells that line the air passages.
  6. Pneumonia is infection via fungi, viruses, etc., that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs. The air sacs get filled with fluid or pus (purulent material) which causes cough with phlegm or pus, leading to difficulty in breathing.
