Question

what are distributive property

Open in App
Solution

Let a,b and c be three numbers.
Then according to distributive property,
a×(b+c)=(a×b)+(a×c)

This can be explained with an example.
Consider three numbers,
4,5,6
We need to prove that
4×(5+6)=(4×5)+(4×6)
LHS=4×(5+6)
=4×(11)=44
RHS=(4×5)+(4×6)
=(20)+(24)=44
So LHS=RHS
4×(5+6)=(4×5)+(4×6)
i.e,
a×(b+c)=(a×b)+(a×c)
