What are Eddy currents ? Describe any three uses of it.

Solution
Eddy currents are loops are electric currents induced in the conductor due to varying magnetic field governed by Faraday's induction law and these loops reside in a plane perpendicular to magnetic field.
Use-
Eddy currents in conductors (having some resistance) generate heat as well as electromagnetic forces.
1.The heat can be used for induction heating.
2.The electromagnetic forces can be used for levitation i.e. in maglev trains.
3.As well as these forces can be used to give a strong braking effect (electric brakes in electric trains.)
