What are Eddy currents ? Describe any three uses of it.

Eddy currents are $loops$ are electric currents $induced$ in the conductor due to $varying$ magnetic field governed by Faraday's induction law and these loops reside in a plane $perpendicular$ to magnetic field.

Use-

Eddy currents in conductors (having some resistance) generate heat as well as electromagnetic forces.

1.The heat can be used for induction heating.

2.The electromagnetic forces can be used for levitation i.e. in maglev trains.

3.As well as these forces can be used to give a strong braking effect (electric brakes in electric trains.)
