  1. Aneuploidy is defined as the abnormal number of chromosomes.
  2. It occurs when there are an extra number of chromosomes or a deletion in the normal set of chromosomes.
  3. Aneuploidy occurs due to errors in the cell division process while separating the chromosomes.
  4. Down’s syndrome is an example of aneuploidy which is due to the trisomy of chromosome 21.
  5. When there is one chromosome less in the cells, e.g., Turner’s syndrome (XO)
