Solution

Secondary active transport

  1. Secondary active transport is a type of active transport across a biological membrane in which a transporter protein couples the uphill movement of another molecule or ion against a concentration/electrochemical gradient with the movement of an ion (typically Na+ or H+) down its electrochemical gradient.
  2. The glucose symporter SGLT1 is an example of secondary active transport.
  3. The sodium-calcium antiporter is another example.
