1. Fossils are formed when a living organism dies, and is covered by microorganisms from decay
2. They are formed due to coverage of sediment layers on dead plants, animals and living organisms. This formation makes the sedimentary rocks as limestone which is best in fossil formation.
3. Fossils are formed in sedimentary rocks mainly due to their characteristic features such as they do not change for centuries and are not affected by major climatic factors
