Definition

  1. Any physical quantity can be measured and expressed in terms of magnitude and a unit.
  2. The physical quantities which do not depend on any other physical quantities for their measurements are known as fundamental quantities or base quantities.
  3. Basic physical or fundamental quantities that do not depend upon other quantities are known as fundamental physical quantities.

Types of fundamental quantities

In physics, length, mass, time, electric current, temperature, amount of substance, and luminous intensity are the seven fundamental physical quantities that are measured in base or physical fundamental units.
