The name 'hydrocarbons' is self-explanatory, referring to the compounds of hydrogen and carbon only.
Hydrocarbons can be classified as saturated hydrocarbons, unsaturated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and cycloalkanes.
Examples of hydrocarbon
Methane $({CH}_{4})$ , Ethane $(C_{2} H_{6})$ , Propane $(C_{3} H_{8})$ , and Butane $(C_{4} H_{10})$ are examples of hydrocarbons.
