What are Hydrophilic Hormones?

Open in App
Solution

Hydrophilic Hormones:

Hormones are divided into categories based on their solubility in an aqueous medium:

  1. Hormones that are hydrophilic.
  2. Hormones that are lipophilic.
  1. The placement of receptors differs for each kind of hormone. Lipophobic hormones are another name for hydrophilic hormones.
  2. In an aqueous solution, these hormones are soluble. They are unable to pass through the cell membrane.
  3. As a result, they bind to the receptor molecules on the surface of the target cell.
  4. As a result, they induce reactions in the cell, altering cell functioning.
  5. Epinephrine, Glucagon, and Insulin are a few examples.
