Solution

Each point: 1 Mark

1. Substances that are used to differentiate between an acid and a base are called indicators.
2. Indicators change their color when added to an acidic solution or a basic solution and this color change is different for acids and bases. Thus they help us in deciding whether a given solution is acidic or basic in nature.
3. Some of the naturally occurring indicators are China rose petals, litmus, turmeric, etc.
