Isotopes: Atoms of the same element having same atomic number and the same chemical properties but differ only in mass are known as isotopes. For example, ${}_6{}^{12}\mathrm{C}$and ${}_6{}^{14}\mathrm{C}$.

Isobars: The atoms of different elements having the same mass number but different atomic numbers are called isobars. For example, ${}_{20}{}^{40}\mathrm{Ca}$ and ${}_{18}{}^{40}\mathrm{Ar}$.

The two isotopes of chlorine are ${}_{17}{}^{35}\mathrm{Cl}$and ${}_{17}{}^{37}\mathrm{Cl}$.
