Solution

Khadins:

  1. Khadin is a land-use system.
  2. It is used in areas where rocky catchments and valley plains are close together.
  3. The catchment's runoff is retained on the lower valley floor, which is surrounded by an earthen ‘bund.’
  4. During the monsoon season, the water in the khadin is held back.
  5. By the first week of November, it may have vanished beneath the soil.
  6. Because of the constant deposition of fine sediment, the soils in the khadins are exceptionally productive.

Johads:

  1. A johad is a rainwater storage tank.
  2. It gathers and keeps water throughout the year.
  3. It is utilized for drinking by humans and livestock.
  4. These are constructed in low water areas.
  5. The yearly rainfall in many sections of the state is quite low, and the water might be unpleasant to drink.
  6. Rainfall in July and August is collected in johads and used all year.
