Lanthanides are 15 consecutive chemical elements in the periodic table from lanthanum to lutetium. With scandium and yttrium, they make up the rare earth metals. All the lanthanide elements commonly have the +3 oxidation state.

Along with +3 oxidation state, some lanthanoids also show +2 and +4 oxidation state.
